Frequently asked questions

Should I apply tar remover before or after iron remover?
Apply tar remover first, then iron remover. Tar films can encapsulate iron particles and prevent the iron remover from reaching them. Removing the tar layer first exposes the embedded iron contamination so the fallout remover can react properly. Both products work better on a dry panel, so dry the car after washing before applying either chemical.
How do I remove a large or stubborn tar deposit that won't shift with a quick spray?
For thick arch-liner tar build-up, number-plate tape adhesive, or any deeply bonded deposit, load a make-up remover wipe with tar remover and press it flat onto the deposit. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes while you continue with the rest of the car. The extended contact time and covered wet surface allows the product to soak in fully, and the deposit wipes straight off when you return. The same approach works for adhesive residue on interior trim.
Does tar remover residue look like water beading on the paint?
Yes, and this is a common source of confusion. Tar remover is solvent-based, and residue clinging to the panel can give the appearance of water beading. It is solvent on the surface, not actual paint protection. Always do a final snow-foam or shampoo pass after your tar and iron remover steps to clear chemical residue before drying and moving to protection. This gives you an honest read of whether an LSP is actually present.
How should I apply tar remover to panels with paint protection film?
On panels wrapped in PPF, apply tar remover via a microfibre towel rather than spraying directly onto the film. Massage the product onto the surface through the cloth. Direct spray can work under lifted seam edges and pool unevenly at the edges of the wrap. The same applies to iron remover on PPF panels.
