Frequently asked questions

What is a rinseless wash and when should I use one?
A rinseless wash is a concentrated formula that lubricates and encapsulates dirt during contact washing without needing a pressure-washer rinse. It is well suited to maintaining well-protected cars, washing in a garage, during a hosepipe ban, or as a quick clean between proper pressure-wash sessions. It is not appropriate for heavily soiled paint or winter-grimed cars, and it cannot flush arches and suspension components the way a snow foam pre-wash and pressure washer can.
Which rinseless wash is best for dirt-cutting performance?
Based on multiple real-car tests, Feynlab Pure Rinseless ranks first for cleaning power, with Garage Therapy Rinseless a close second and finishing better with less effort. CarPro Ech2o is the next pick, offering versatility as a quick detailer and clay lube at 1:16 dilution. ONR (Optimum No Rinse) ranks lower on dirt release and is limited to lightly dirty cars.
What dilution should I use for a rinseless wash?
Standard dilution for most rinseless washes is 4 ml per litre of water (1:250) for medium soiling. For heavier soiling use 1:128 (about 8 ml per litre). For spot cleaning bird droppings or light dust, dilute to around 1:16 to 1:200 in a trigger sprayer and wipe off after a few seconds dwell. Bilt Hamber Phat-Neut uses the same 1:250 ratio for contact washing and around 1:33 as a pre-wash in a foam lance.
How do I avoid scratching paint during a rinseless wash?
Pre-spray the entire car with diluted rinseless solution before any contact wiping so the encapsulants have time to coat dirt particles. Work one panel at a time, using straight lines rather than circular motions. Flip the wash media to a clean face regularly and keep it heavily soaked through to the last side. Use a thick sponge over a thin microfibre mitt where possible, as it spreads hand pressure over a wider area and reduces the marring risk from fingertip pressure.
Does a rinseless wash strip my wax or ceramic coating?
No. A rinseless wash will not strip a coating or a decent sealant. On a coated car you are simply cleaning the panel and letting the coating handle water beading. There is no need to add a separate drying aid in that case. The exception is Labocosmetica Idrosave, which deposits a light cationic bonding film even at high dilution, so it is not suitable as a paint-prep rinse step before coating or polishing.
