Pressure Washer Hose Attachments & Quick Connects

The 1/4 inch quick release is the universal aftermarket standard that most third-party lances, nozzles and stubby guns are built around. Fitting one to your gun means accessories push on and click off in a second instead of being screwed on and off. It is the single cheapest change that makes a wash flow properly, because swapping between a foam lance and a rinse nozzle stops being a job you put off. We stock adaptors that convert most domestic machines to it.

It depends on the connection at the gun, which is not the same as the fitting at the hose or machine inlet. Karcher K-series machines use a bayonet connector on the gun, so they need a Karcher bayonet adaptor. Nilfisk machines use their own quick-release and need a Nilfisk-specific adaptor. Kranzle uses an M22 14mm thread. AVA machines share the Karcher-style bayonet on the lance side even though their hose fittings are Nilfisk-like, so a Karcher-fit lance connects to an AVA gun.

Because a universal 1/4 inch quick-connect does not fit a Nilfisk on its own. Nilfisk uses a proprietary quick-release at the gun, so you need a Nilfisk-specific adaptor between the gun and the 1/4 inch accessory. The same applies to Kew, Alto and Gerni machines, which share that family of fittings. Once the correct adaptor is in place, any standard 1/4 inch lance, nozzle or stubby gun will fit.

M22 is the thread size and the number after it is the internal diameter of the insert inside that thread. M22 with a 14mm insert is the common size on Kranzle, AVA and many prosumer machines; M22 15mm looks identical from the outside but the pin diameter differs, so the two are not interchangeable. If you are unsure, measure the hole in the centre of the fitting rather than the thread. We stock M22 14mm to 3/8 inch and to 1/4 inch conversions.

They sit at different points in the setup. The 3/8 inch quick connect is normally used at the hose and gun end on prosumer machines such as Kranzle, where it handles the full flow, while the 1/4 inch quick release is the accessory standard at the lance end for foam cannons, nozzles and stubby guns. A complete setup often uses both: 3/8 inch to join hose to gun, 1/4 inch to change nozzles. We stock plugs, sockets and conversion kits for each.

Use it on threaded joints that seal on the thread itself, wrapping two or three turns in the direction the fitting tightens. Do not use it on connections that seal with an O-ring or a rubber washer, because the seal is made by the rubber and adding tape can stop the parts seating fully. If a threaded joint weeps under pressure, PTFE tape is usually the fix. If a quick-release weeps, replace the O-ring instead.
