No. Magic erasers are abrasive and remove or degrade the leather topcoat even when you cannot see the damage happening. Do I need to clean brand-new leather before applying a protectant?

Yes. Factory-fresh leather has invisible smudges and handling residue from manufacturing and transit that won't show under casual lighting but prevent proper adhesion of a leather sealant. Wipe the leather down with an interior cleaner before applying any protectant, even if the leather looks pristine.
