Frequently asked questions

What is Soft99 best known for?
Two things: Fusso Coat and the Glaco glass range. Fusso Coat is a solid synthetic wax sold in Light and Dark versions that outlasts a soft carnauba by a wide margin, which is why it has such a following for winter protection. The Glaco line is glass treatment, with Glaco DX and Ultra Glaco as rain repellents, Glaco Glass Compound for cleaning and preparing glass, and Mirror Coat Zero for wing mirrors.
Is Fusso Coat a wax or a sealant?
It is a wax, despite being synthetic and long-lasting, because it comes in a solid puck form and form is what defines the category. This is a common point of confusion: synthetic chemistry does not make something a sealant, being a liquid does. In practical terms it applies like a paste wax, thin coats buffed off after hazing, but holds on far longer than a carnauba. Light and Dark versions differ in tint, not in durability.
How do I apply Glaco rain repellent properly?
Preparation decides the result. Clean the glass thoroughly first, ideally with Glaco Glass Compound to remove bonded contamination, old repellent and wiper residue, then dry it fully. Apply Glaco to dry glass with the built-in applicator, leave it to haze, then buff off any residue completely with a clean waffle or plush towel. Leftover residue is what causes the night-time smearing people blame on the product. Above roughly 40mph water clears without wipers.
Why use a Japanese brand over a UK one?
Soft99 products are developed for a market where glass treatments and long-life waxes are mainstream, and the Glaco range in particular has no direct UK equivalent in longevity or ease of application. The trade-off is smaller bottle sizes and unfamiliar labelling. For paint protection there are plenty of good UK options, but for glass repellents and a genuinely long-lasting solid wax, this is the range people keep returning to.
