A hosepipe ban stops you running a hose on the drive. It doesn't stop you washing your car with a bucket, and it doesn't stop you using a jet wash. This kit is built for exactly that.

What's in the kit

1. Wash bucket and grit guard — CA Detailing 20L Wash Bucket with Grit Guard. Carries the whole kit to the wash bay, then becomes your wash bucket. The grit guard traps dirt at the bottom so it never goes back onto your paint.
2. Pre-wash — Stjarnagloss Först Citrus Pre-Wash 1L. Softens road film and traffic grime before anything touches the car, so most of the dirt leaves with the rinse instead of with your mitt. This is the step that prevents swirl marks.
3. Shampoo — Koch Chemie Autoshampoo 1L. High-foaming and pH-neutral, so it cleans hard without stripping any wax or coating already on the paint. A capful in the bucket goes a long way.
4. Wash mitt — Gtechniq WM2 Microfibre Wash Mitt. Deep pile fibres lift grit up and away from the panel instead of dragging it across. The mitt matters more than the shampoo does.
5. Wheel cleaner — Infinity Wax Incinerate 500ml. The wheel cleaner used by over 10,000 UK valeters and detailers. Spray, dwell, agitate, rinse. A lance on its own won't shift baked-on brake dust.
6. Wheel brush — CA Detailing Soft Bristle Wheel Brush, 36cm. Metal-free nylon bristles, safe on every finish including gloss black and diamond-cut, and long enough to reach behind the spokes.
7. Tyre brush — CA Detailing Tyre Brush. Stiff bristles to scrub the brown bloom out of tyre walls. That bloom is what makes otherwise clean wheels still look dirty.
8. Sealant and gloss enhancer — Gyeon Q²M WetCoat 500ml. Spray onto the soaking wet car and rinse straight off. Adds months of hydrophobic protection, lifts the gloss, and halves your drying time. No buffing, no panic about it drying in.
9. Drying towel — Stjarnagloss Törstig Drying Towel 70x70cm. Twisted-loop microfibre that drinks water. One towel dries a whole car without a trip back to the boot.

How to use it at the wash bay

1. Wheels first. Incinerate onto cold wheels, let it dwell, agitate with the wheel brush and tyre brush, blast off with the lance.
2. Pre-wash. Först over the whole car, let it dwell a minute, rinse off with the lance. Most of the dirt goes now.
3. Contact wash. Autoshampoo in the bucket, fill from the lance, wash top-down with the WM2 mitt. Rinse the mitt on the grit guard between panels.
4. Rinse and protect. Rinse the car down, then mist WetCoat over the wet paint and rinse it straight off. Water sheets away and the car half-dries itself.
5. Dry. Törstig towel, top-down, straight away. For an easier dry, mist a little WetCoat onto the towel as you work. It doubles as a drying aid, adds enough slickness that the towel glides instead of grabbing, and tops up the protection you've just laid down.

Twenty minutes, start to finish, and no hose used at any point.

Q: Does this include a pressure washer?

A: No. It's the chemicals and tools you take to a jet wash — the lance is already there. That's the point: you get a proper wash without buying, storing or powering a machine.

A: Petrol station wash bays, dedicated self-service car wash sites and supermarket car parks are the usual options. Q: Can I use this without a jet wash?

A: Yes, though it's designed around one. Bucket-wash and rinse with a watering can or a second bucket. WetCoat needs a rinse to work, so keep a few litres of clean water back for that step.
